Conrad from Avvo

Jennifer - thanks so much for the write-up on Avvo. While some may argue, we've shot past Martindale-Hubbell in both the number of lawyers rated as well as traffic. I wrote a post with these specific stats here http://avvoblog.com/2010/06/25/bigger-is-better-avvo-is-the-biggest-legal-directory/.

If you ever have any questions about Avvo, now you have my email. :)

Good comments Jennifer! First I am an AVVO user and rated, in two states, as "Superior" . . . so I guess I can't complain. The problem with AVVO, that I hope they'll work out over time, is that the system is too easy to manipulate. A so-so attorney can work up a "Superior" rating by filing out their bio completely, get some reviewers to say nice things, and string together some impressive sounding speaking enagagements . . . and viola! . . . "Superior". On the otherhand, there are some fantastic attorneys, who may not know any better, who are rated "Good" because they are either unaware or haven't gotten around to entering information. As things stand NOW, Martindale-Hubbell, I think, is more objective and less manipulatable (is that a word?). (I have my 'av' from them. Believe me, I am rooting for AVVO, because I believe the owners of Martindale have gotten WAY too powerful in the legal publishing/info business and they need some competition. So, Conrad, take my comments constructively . . . you all have done a great startup in very little time!
