What? You’re an Essential Solution® client and you don’t use the blogs that appear every Friday in your mail box? Here’s what you’re missing:
Remember that you are blogging for two different audiences – humans and bots.
For bots, you want fresh content. Google loves fresh original content. If you have five minutes, you can take the blogs that our Essential Solution® delivers fresh every Friday and tweak just a hair to suit your audience. Surprise – you’re a blogger!
Humans love fresh content. Let’s say a new person comes to your blog, and the latest entry is October 2015. Or, worse yet, October 2014. You may as well post a sign reading “We’re not that much into detail and follow up” on your front door. Even if the reason that your blog is out of date is because you are so busy that there’s no time – well, see the preceding paragraph!
There are so many interesting things going on in estate planning and elder law. As of this writing, Congress hasn’t moved forward on a number of final items due before the end of the year – eventually they will. And then you’ll have some important news to share with clients and prospects.
You’re special. We mean that in a good way. You are an active member of your community, you host events for clients and local not-for-profits, you speak about estate planning issues and you are probably a member of a few business groups. You’ve got news – blogs are a great way to share your news. Which is – you guessed it – original content.
You have a lot of information to share. We know a lot of you are modest, or think that someone else is smarter than you. But you have experience and knowledge. Use that knowledge to become an authority by sharing it in your blog posts.
Here’s something else you probably take for granted. As a practicing lawyer, you’ve invested years, even decades learning how to convince people, including some pretty smart judges, juries and other attorneys, that your ideas are better or your reason is better. That means you already have strong writing skills and an ability to write in a convincing manner.
In other words, you have everything it takes to be a successful blogger. Go for it!
