The beginning of April is a good time to evaluate your marketing efforts. In fact, not doing so would mean one risked being a “fool” or at least fool-ish.
Here are the first “foolish” things you should be doing this April:
- Don’t Blog Daily. Google searches want to simplify things for those who use their search engines. The best way to do this is to keep your site simple. Don’t add pages to your website which add value to users. The less the better.
- Don’t Utilize Social Media. People are spending less time on mobile devices and social apps, which makes search engines ignore these signals.
- Add more Google Pages. If you have more Google Business pages, which account for every variation in spelling of your address and have conflicting contact information, Google will deem you more credible.
- “Set and Forget” Your Logins. Believe it or not, logins are meaningless to remember. If you have them written or saved somewhere, you will get hacked. It is better for you not to access your site than for someone else to access it.
- Ignore reviews. People don’t care what others think about you or your excellent legal services. They would rather go into a meeting without any idea about the attorney’s skills or demeanor. It keeps things interesting.
These terrible ideas are just plain false. While they are fun advice on April Fool’s Day, following these guidelines will get you into trouble.
Don’t be naive about your marketing. Blog, post to social media, consolidate your Google Plus listings, record and update your logins, and request reviews. Lather, rinse, repeat. Steps like these will “fool proof” your digital marketing.
