An organization's ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly, is the ultimate competitive advantage.
– Jack Welch
This was our goal for The Summit: to help our clients make key discoveries that would translate into immediate, positive action toward achieving their practice development, personal and professional goals.
So on Day Three, attendees were challenged to review their Aha! Moments and commit to taking action. They shared these commitments, including deadlines, with the group to make their commitments more tangible. Here are just a few of the commitments attendees shared, along with their Aha! Moments:
Aha! Moment:
There is more science than art in managing my marketing. The data available in my CRM is personal, relevant and actionable.
Action Plan:
I’m going to set up another training session with my account manager to review my data, commit to reviewing the daily email I get from E2 and meet with my account manager once a month on Monday afternoons to review my numbers, ask questions, and make plans.
Aha! Moment:
The one thing that truly differentiates me in the marketplace is my story. I’ve been reluctant to tell my own story because I thought no one wanted to hear it. Now I realize the value of storytelling and am excited about discovering the best way to share my story.
Action Plan:
I’m going to pull together some of the photos that have meaning to me and really think about the stories that have inspired or influenced me. And I’m going to schedule a time to meet with James next week to determine my next steps.
Aha! Moment:
I was thinking last night about the client intake session yesterday and it just hit me – why am I asking all of these questions so early in the process? What value is anyone really getting, at that point, by listing out account information? It’s not moving my client forward, and it’s irrelevant to me if the client does not move forward.
Action Plan:
I am going to scrap my entire intake process and revise it, focused on the client’s pain, and solving their problems or meeting their needs.
Aha! Moment:
I see now that even New Englanders are using social media!
Action Plan:
When I do my marketing planning for next year, social media – and especially Facebook – is going to have a much bigger role.
We also asked attendees to give us feedback about the Horse Work they did on Wednesday and their key take-aways from the Summit. Here are just a few of the their comments:
What were your takeaways from the Horse Work activity?
- That I may be standing in my own way when it comes to making progress and moving my firm forward.
- You can't always lead from in front. Sometimes the "go zone" is behind the organization.
Was the Horse Work valuable? Why or why not?
Yes! I gained insight into ways to move my firm forward toward my goals.
The Horse Work made me think about how I am leading my law firm ... I realize that "conventional" wisdom is not always the right answer and I need to pay attention to what is actually happening and adjust my approach accordingly.
Is Horse Work something you'd do again in the future?
Absolutely!
Finally, attendees were asked to rate the sessions in order as their favorite or most impactful. Here, in priority order, are their rankings:
#1 – The Horse Work: Trampling Your Limiting Beliefs
#2 – Getting Digital Right
#3 – Automating the Client Intake Process
Our first client Summit here in Colorado Springs is over. But we are already planning for next year, and this year’s attendees gave us a resounding YES! when asked if they will be back in 2018. If you weren’t able to join us this year, we hope you will make a point of it next year.
In the meantime, if you’re ready to elevate your practice to new heights, consider scheduling a private firm retreat with us here at Legacy Ranch. To learn more, visit www.IMSLegacyRanch.com, or call James at 1-877-352-2021. We’d love to welcome you here, and work together to do something remarkable!
