I've had several questions over the past couple of days about the horse work that kicks off Day One of the Empowerment Retreat. Here are just a few quick FAQs:
Q: Are we going to be riding horses?
A: No, all the work with the horses is done from the ground. There is no riding involved.
Q: What if I don't have much (or any) horse experience?
A: Great! No experience necessary. In fact, sometimes those who think they know all about horses struggle leaving their old habits and preconceived ideas behind. This is one time when the "beginner's mind" is a real asset!
Q: I'm really scared of horses. Do I HAVE to participate in the horse work?
A: No, of course not. It's almost impossible to learn when you're scared, and we would not want that for you! Once you see what's involved, you may change your mind. But if not, so much can be learned by active observation! Stay where you feel safe, and participate by observing the activities. It all works!
Q: What can horses really teach me? Seriously -- I'm a lawyer!
A: Horses show us who really are and how we show up to others. What we do with that information is totally up to us!
Here's a quick video to give you an idea of what actually happens when we bring lawyers and horses together:
